Ways to Use Chain Link Fencing Around the Home

Blog

While chain link fencing is often built around businesses, schools and parks, it can also be used in various ways on residential properties. Consider the following possibilities.

Front Fence

If you live in a rustic area or you have a large property, a chain-link barrier can create an ideal front fence to define the property boundary. These fences consist of wire which is woven into diamond shapes to form a mesh. It doesn't offer large gaps, so it will safely restrain children and pets on your property. You can make the barrier more attractive by installing vinyl-coated mesh in colours such as brown, green or black. The vinyl layer will create a polished look while covering any pointy edges. The PVC also shields the webbing from weathering and corrosion.

Home Tennis Court

If you're lucky enough to have a tennis court in your yard, chain-link fences are ideal for containing balls in the court area. They're constructed from a roll of wire mesh that is attached to posts and rails. Thus, it's straightforward for fencing contractors to create tall and wide barriers, as the mesh is relatively lightweight. While the webbing blocks balls from flying everywhere, it allows the breeze to freely flow through. The fence also allows for clear visibility, so you won't feel trapped in the tennis court area. Both the posts and rails and the web use galvanised steel with a zinc film that inhibits corrosion. Thus, they can withstand elements such as rain, hail and the sun.

Pet Containment

You can also use a chain-link fence to restrain a pet dog in one section of your backyard, to keep them away from a veggie patch, for instance. The weave nature of these fences gives them a light and relatively unobtrusive look, especially if you install a green or black fence PVC-coated model that blends into the garden environment.

Even though they offer good visibility, you can decorate the fence to create privacy by weaving specially manufactured slats through the diamond mesh. These slats may be vinyl, timber or use other materials. You could opt for bright red, blue or yellow, or choose muted tans and greys. Another possibility is to grow climbing plants against the fence. However, bear in mind that this can sometimes encourage the wire mesh to corrode as time goes on. If you want to avoid this, you could weave faux greenery through the wire mesh instead.

Fencing off the yard

Our dogs are lots of fun and very energetic, but they also have a scary bark. It's great to make the house more secure, but I am always worried that they'll scare people just passing by the house, so we have a tall fence to keep the dogs in. It makes people feel better if they can't see the dogs, and it makes me feel better to know that the dogs are safe and secure in our yard. This blog is all about keeping your yard secure so that your dogs will be safe inside and don't make the neighbours feel nervous.
