3 Performance Factors You Can Expect from Fencing Timber

Blog

Timber has, over the years, been one of the most popular choices of material for use in different fencing applications. Timber fencing in its different styles and designs such as the traditional picket fence style, post and rail, among others, is used in both residential and commercial properties.

In the different applications, timber fencing can be functional, aesthetic or both. Using fencing timber provides you with a guarantee that your fencing will look good and perform as well as a boundary and perimeter barrier, or any other function for which it is installed. That said, what characteristics or properties pre-qualifies and justifies a load of timber to be considered as top quality fencing timber?

1. Strength

Top quality timber has high tensile and transverse strength. The strength of timber depends on its density. The denser the wood, the higher the structural strength. The strength will determine the capacity of the timber to support loads without bending. For fencing styles such as post and rail, you may want to sit on the horizontal rails as you enjoy the outdoors. Top quality fencing timber with high strength will be able to comfortably support your weight, and that of any load you may place on the fence.

2. Toughness

Toughness is a measure of a material's ability to withstand impact or strong forces without bending or breaking easily. Because toughness also expresses a material's ability to bear and withstand shocks and jerks, it is also referred to as impact strength. Fencing timber is tough, and will not easily break when subjected to high impact forces. Think of a livestock fence made from timber. If the wood used isn't tough, then the cattle will be able to easily push past and break down the barrier.

3. Durability

Fencing timber has a high durability performance, meaning it has the natural ability to resist decay, an infection caused by fungi growth, and attack by insects and pests such as termites. Because of this resistance, the timber will have a longer useful lifespan, ensuring that your fence remains standing for a long time.

Your structure is only as good as the material you use, and your timber fencing is no exception. Whether the timber is just for the fence posts, or you are having a wooden fence installed, it is very crucial to ensure that you only timber of superior quality. By so doing, you can expect your fence to perform as it should, and for a long time.

Fencing off the yard

Our dogs are lots of fun and very energetic, but they also have a scary bark. It's great to make the house more secure, but I am always worried that they'll scare people just passing by the house, so we have a tall fence to keep the dogs in. It makes people feel better if they can't see the dogs, and it makes me feel better to know that the dogs are safe and secure in our yard. This blog is all about keeping your yard secure so that your dogs will be safe inside and don't make the neighbours feel nervous.
