Colorbond fencing carries a number of advantages. For example, Colorbond fencing is made of steel, which means that it is environmentally friendly. The steel fencing is also fire resistant and corrosion free, and it lasts longer than most fencing choices. It is also easy to maintain. However, there are two different Colorbond fencing styles available: platted and solid fencing. How do you choose which one is best for you?
General appearance
Colorbond fencing generally offers a diverse range of colour and customization options. This makes it easy to make your fences appear just as you like them. However, when comparing platted and solid Colorbond fencing, platted fencing seems to have a more appealing look. This is because the platted style offers frequent breaks to the monotony that solid Colorbond fencing has. Platted Colorbond fencing also has more flexibility when it comes to colour. Using multiple colours on platted fencing is easier than on solid fencing.
Privacy
Solid Colorbond fencing offers your home more privacy from any prying eyes. This is because the solid Colorbond fencing has little to no spaces to peek through. You may not have to worry much about being watched by neighbours or passersby. Platted Colorbond fencing, on the other hand, allows someone standing close enough to watch what is going within your yard. You are also able to see what is happening outside. If you were looking to work or relax outside without distractions, then platted fencing might not be the best style to go for.
Safety
Getting over a solid Colorbond fence can be difficult. An intruder might need a lot of planning and equipment before being able to jump over it. This means that solid fences offer your home a higher level of safety as compared to platted Colorbond fences. Platted fences can make the intruding process easier, as one can use the plats as steps to climb over the fence. You can, however, install other security measures such as electric fencing, security cameras, motion detectors or a guard dog.
Customization
Platted colorbond fencing allows for more customization as compared to solid fencing. With platted fencing, you can easily incorporate other materials into the fence structure without distorting its general appearance—something that may look odd with solid fencing. With platted Colorbond fencing, you can also have custom Colorbond gates to match with your customization ideas.
Maintenance
Ideally both platted and solid colorbond fencing will have the same maintenance needs. However, platted fencing is easier to wash and repair as opposed to solid fencing. This is because platted fencing has a smaller surface area generally. You can also easily access both sides of the fence from one side, depending of the spaces between the plats.

Our dogs are lots of fun and very energetic, but they also have a scary bark. It's great to make the house more secure, but I am always worried that they'll scare people just passing by the house, so we have a tall fence to keep the dogs in. It makes people feel better if they can't see the dogs, and it makes me feel better to know that the dogs are safe and secure in our yard. This blog is all about keeping your yard secure so that your dogs will be safe inside and don't make the neighbours feel nervous.
